It was a nice trip to Belur-Halebeedu and then shravanabelagola.
As per plan it went fine...but could have covered some more near by places in 2days.
Any way if any one is planning then First go to Shravanabelagola and then belur and finally halebeedu. Afterwords u can look for some more places. As the above three places u can cover very well in 1day.
Shrvanabelagola:
Here u can find two places.
1. CHANDRAGIRI BETTA ( Also called as CHIKKA BETTA )
Where one can find the Statue of Bharata ( Bahubali Brother). And also around 15 jain temples. You can also see the Bahubali statue from the top of betta, which is really nice.
2. INDRAGIRI BETTA - ( Also known as DODDA BETTA or VINDHYA GIRI )
The WORLD FAMOUS Big Statue of BAHUBALI is located on top of betta. Lot of places to look for specially,
Akhanda Bagilu, Gullekayi Ajji Mantapa, Chennanna Basti, Odegal Basti.
Reach: Bangalore->ChannrayanaPatna->Shravanabelagola.
After this Start towards Belur. come to ChannrayanaPatna and take direct bus to BELUR ( via Hassan - 2Hrs).
BELUR:
Belur is 40 km from Hassan city and 220 km from Bangalore. You can find the famous Chennakeshava temple at Belur.
Lot of things to see here..
The temple has three entrances and the doorways have highly decorated sculptures of doorkeepers (dvarapalaka). Some madanika popular with tourists are the Darpana Sundari (beauty with mirror), "The lady with the parrot", "The huntress" and Bhasma mohini ( Mohini Pliiar inside temple.), the ornate pliiers inside temple are really beautiful.
like important sculptures are the Narasimha image in the south western corner, Shiva-Gajasura (Shiva slaying demon in form of elephant) on the western side, the winged Garuda, consort of Lord Vishnu standing facing the temple, dancing Kali, a seated Ganesha, a pair consisting of a boy with an umbrella and a king (Vamana avatar or incarnation of Vishnu), Ravana shaking Mount Kailash, Durga slaying demon Mahishasura, standing Brahma, Varaha (avatar of Vishnu), Shiva dancing on demon (Andhakasura), Bhairava (avatar of Shiva) and Surya.
Reach: Bangalore->Hassan->Belur.(222Km)
After this start towards Halebeedu. Direct bus is available from Belur and it is just 16Km away from belur.
HALEBEEDU:
The temple complex comprises of two Hindu temples, the Hoysaleshawara and Kedareshwara temples and two Jain basadi.
The two nandi bull statues which are on the side of the Hoysaleshwara temple are monolithic(6th and 7th Largest in India) soap stone or Chloritic Schist was used for the construction of these temples. However a number of sculptures in the temple are destructed by invaders. So the temple is incomplete. Halebid means ruined city.
Here u can find the stories of Mahabharat, ramayana, Bhaktha Prahalada + so many...
This temple is now being proposed as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
